THE REOPENING: Ocean City, Maryland to reopen beach and boardwalk ahead of schedule on May 9th

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Rick Meehan, the Mayor of Ocean City, has issued an emergency declaration to reopen the town, including the beach, boardwalk and inlet parking lot this weekend.

Meehan's emergency declaration will take effect on Saturday, May 9.

Ocean City's reopening comes earlier than anticipated, with the original schedule to reopen both the beach and boardwalk being on May 15.

A spokesperson for Ocean City says Meehan's declaration does not violate the statewide orders of Maryland governor, Larry Hogan.
